Despite the disappointing start to the week when the weather spoiled our plans for Sports Day, we have managed to go ahead with all the other outdoor activities and learning for the rest of the week. The Year 2 children represented the school beautifully on Tuesday and Wednesday when they went to the May Balfour Garden to serve the community by tidying, cleaning and planting bulbs in the park on Institute road. We have had so many positive comments about their attitude, behaviour and perseverance to complete the tasks.
On Sunday, it was lovely to see so many of our Sandygate red jumpers at All Saints for Sandygate Sunday. Reverend Dave has written to me to say thank you to all the children who came along (with their families) to sing the 'Love is something...' song that they had been practising and say some prayers they had written about refugees.
With the approaching end to the academic year, our work on preparing the children across the school for the changes that are ahead of them has continued this week. In their classes, PSHE lessons have allowed the children to explore change, ask questions and understand that change can be a good thing. Many of the Year 2 children visited Holy Trinity school on Thursday, spending time in some of the classrooms and meeting the Little Marlow children who will be starting there in September too. On the return, the chat was all about the new friends that they had made.
Next week, the end of year activities start in earnest and we aim to communicate as much as we can to parents/carers in a timely manner. The vast majority of the information you need is held in this Newsletter, so I do encourage you to read the contents carefully and make note of any information that is useful to you.
