Yesterday, the Year 2 worship leaders led us for a Candlemas service, and it was a wonderful occasion. They did a superb job of retelling the origins of the festival and did so independently. You can see more information in the article below.
We are pleased to say that our very own Mrs Britnell has been nominated for a Marlow Hidden Gem Award in the Best Teaching or Learning Support Assistant category. It would be wonderful if she won this well deserved award. There are more details below.
The Year 1 and Year R children have had a great time in the Explorer Dome today. This has been funded by money raised by the PFA. Thank you all for the support that you give to this fundraising it does make a huge difference in how we can offer enriched learning experiences for the children.
As the Explorer Dome was in the school hall all day today, we were unable to hold our celebration worship in the normal way. So we decided to go back down memory lane and hold a remote celebration worship (as we had to do when we were having to keep the classes apart during the height of the pandemic). You can see a photo of this below.

NSPCC Number Day 2023 - Wednesday 8th February - Whole School
We are excited to be taking part in the NSPCC Number day again this year. There will lots of fun Maths based activities taking place in school on Number Day, and we will have some Year 6 pupils from Holy Trinity to help us with this!
This is a fundraising event for the NSPCC, and we would like the children to come to school wearing a number themed outfit. This does not have to be an elaborate outfit, and it should be fit for wearing indoors and out. It can be something as easy as attaching your child's favourite number to their jumper or a representation of a number ie not the digit.
Donations to the NSPCC can be made via the specially created Just Giving page or by using the QR code below.

World Book Day - Thursday 2nd March - Whole school
This year we have lots of events planned around World Book Day. Details of these are below:
World Book Day Dress up
On World Book Day itself, we are inviting children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. The costume does not have to be elaborate or expensive and there are ideas for simple homemade costumes here. We love seeing which books the children are enjoying, and it's a great way to get reading ideas from your friends by looking at their costumes.
Mystery Reader
We usually finish our school day with a story read by the class teacher or teaching assistant. During the week of World Book Day we would like to surprise the children with some 'Mystery Readers'. If you would like to come into school for the last 10 - 15 minutes of the day to share your favourite story with your child's class then please sign up to let us know.
We have a limited number of opportunities across the week for the Mystery Readers, so there is a chance that we will not be able to invite everybody in on this occasion.
Please email the school office if you are interested in being one of our mystery readers.
Challenge Time
We are holding a creative challenge for all children linked to their reading. We would like all children to choose 1 of the challenges outlined below and send it into school the week commencing 27th February.
- Take a photograph of yourself reading in an unusual or an exciting place
- Paint, collage or draw your own inspirational quote or phrase from your favourite book or author
- Create your own story props to tell one of your favourite stories
- Make a book. You could theme it around your favourite book, author or illustrator
Online Book Fair
We also have an online Book Club running with Scholastic Books. Please click here.
All the books in the Book Club are discounted, some by as much as 50%. For every £1 you spend the school receives 20p to spend on books.

School Disco - Saturday 4th March - All Year Groups
This year's school disco is being held on Saturday 4th March in the school hall with Dave the Disco running the show. To keep the children safe with adequate adult supervision, we will be holding 2 identical discos and are limiting the number of tickets/children to each disco to 90. The timings of these will be 2-3.30pm and 3.45-5.15pm. Tickets are £8 per child and are available through parent pay. This will include the disco, snack bags during the event and a small edible treat at the end. We will be needing parent volunteers to help us run the discos but will be in touch about this once we know who is coming to which disco, but please consider helping on the day.
