In school this week

The May Fayre was a huge success last Saturday and the event ran smoothly and was well attended. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying the wide range of activities.

In school this week, the Year 1 children have been busy making their bug hotels and learning about how they can be more environmentally friendly. Yesterday, they had a visitor from the Greatmoor Recycling Plant who talked to them about what happens to rubbish and how to prevent it from polluting the earth.

Year 2 of course visited Mop End on Wednesday and were blessed with some sunny and dry weather. This was a welcome break from their SATs which are now halfway through.

In Reception, it has been a week of Ladybirds! The children have been learning about biodiversity and have been exploring the Wild World to see what insects they can find.

Earlier in the week, Reverend Dave came in to school to lead collective worship, and he talked to the children about Ascension - we have been learning about the timeline which started with Shrove Tuesday and will end with Pentecost. We will be holding a Pentecost service after half-term, there are details about this below.

At the end of creative week we will be running an exhibition (14th July) to showcase art made by the children and sell off a piece of their art. We would love some helpers to help run the set-up and take down of the exhibition (details about the actual exhibition will be to come). Please let the office know if you are able to help.

Sharing Your Views – Whole school

As part of their commitment to the continuous cycle of school improvement, the Governors of Marlow C of E Infant school are reviewing the process for pupils starting school in Reception. This will cover everything from open days, admissions and induction. We’re looking for parents to take part in a focus group, in particular families who are new to the school, but any parent is welcome! It will just be a one-hour session with a daytime or evening option depending on what works best for you.

This is a great chance to provide feedback to the school and have an input on shaping the future admissions and induction process.

There will be 2 sessions which will take place on Thursday 25th May as follows:

  1. 11am–12noon
  2. 7.30pm–8.30pm

Please click here if you are interested in participating.

Dig In Day – Saturday 10th June

We have a few jobs around the school that we need to do and would like to ask families to "dig in" and help with a few of them. Some of these jobs include: fence painting, gardening and jet washing. We are happy for children to come with you as long as they are supervised. We will provide refreshments! Please contact the office if you are able to help.

Midsummer Dinner Dance – Saturday 17th June

There are still tickets available for our first Sandygate parents Midsummer Dinner Dance event which will be held at Temple Golf Club on Saturday June 17th 7.30pm. Dust off your dancing shoes and join us for a fun evening of dinner and dancing with a live band. Tickets are £55pp and are available on ParentPay and include a welcome drink, 2-course dinner, band, raffle and photo-booth. We have the band 'An Absolute Shambles' providing live music, and it's set to be a great night. May Fayre – Thank you!

A big THANK YOU to everyone for all your help with the May Fayre last Saturday and to everyone for coming along to join in the fun and support this lovely school community event.
