Today we have had a great Eco Day of Action. The children have all been inspired to learn about endangered animals in the UK. From Hedgehogs to Red Squirrels, Otters and Adders. Thank you for the donations that have been made for the day – these will be sent to the Bucks, Berks and Oxon Wildlife Trust whose aim is to help develop and repair habitats and bring wildlife back. So far, we have raised £83. If you have not yet donated, you can do so on ParentPay.
We have also tried to reduce the use of electricity and in the classrooms, it has been back to basics without the use of computers, interactive boards and lighting. We even sang our song in school worship without the use of backing music-the children’s voices were simply enough!
So, what was the impact on our electricity usage? We saved an impressive 31kw of electricity. Last Friday, we used 51kw and this Friday we only used 20kw. We hoped to develop the children’s awareness of how reliant we are on electricity and the importance of conserving as much energy as we can.
I am looking forward to seeing the Year 1s singing on Sunday in Higginson Park with other Marlow schools.
