In school this week

The Reception children have been out and about this week, performing their act of service. They walked all the way to and from All Saints Church and were busy tidying and weeding the churchyard while they were there. When they came back to school they were very tired, but when I asked them how it went, they were keen to share that they had worked hard and the churchyard looked brilliant! Such a successful morning for them and they demonstrated our school value of Service perfectly!

Sports day was a great success on Tuesday, and thankfully it was perfect weather for the occasion. It was lovely to see the children working so well together and getting to know children in different year groups. To see so many parents and carers cheering the children on, was great as well.

The key events next week are Transition morning for all the children and the whole school Open Afternoon. It’s going to be another busy one!

General News and Reminders

Trip to Wittenham Clumps –17th July- Year 1

As part of our next topic in Year 1 on Land and Sea, we have decided that a wonderful way to enrich this would be for us all to visit Wittenham Clumps. This will take place on Monday 17th July.

Consent, offers of help and ordering of packed lunches on ParentPay must be completed by Friday 7th July.

End of Year Service – 21st July - Year 2

The End of Year Service is always a lovely, emotional, time as we say goodbye to our Year 2 children and wish them well for the next step in their learning journey. They will share some memories of their time at Sandygate and sing some of their favourite worship songs.

Year 2 parents will be able to book a ticket for this special service next week.

Creative Week: 10th–14th July – Whole school

We are having a creative week this half-term between 10th–14th July. At the end of creative week we will be running an exhibition (14th July) to showcase art made by the children (between 2.00pm and 4.00pm). You will also be able to buy your child's piece of art. You will be able to sign up next week.

We would love some helpers to help run the set-up and take down of the exhibition. Please let the office know if you are able to help.

Open Afternoon: Wednesday 5th July – Whole school

From 4pm-6pm you are invited to come and see some of the work the children have done, which is displayed in classrooms and communal areas. Each year group is working on a short performance, a dance or a song, which they will give during the afternoon and the Maypole and Recorder club will also perform.

The order for these are:

  • 4.30pm – Recorder Club
  • 4.45pm – Maypole Club
  • 5.00pm – Reception
  • 5.15pm – Year 1
  • 5.30pm – Year 2

All performances will all be on the school field except for Recorder Club, which will be in the hall.

PFA News

Brickies – thank you!

A big well done to all our budding Lego master builders who came to our Brickies Sea Quest session on Sunday. There were some amazing creations, and we were blown away by the imagination and enthusiasm of all the children. Also, a massive thank you to the parent helpers who made the day possible and helped to raise just over £200. As this event was such as success, we are looking at running another one next year, so watch this space!

Sports Day – thank you!

We also wanted to thank you all for supporting our sports day refreshments on Monday. We made an impressive £175 on pastries and tea/coffee. A big THANK YOU to Lidl for kindly donating the pastries free of charge.

Pizza during Open Afternoon: Wednesday 5th July

At the school Open Afternoon, to take the burden off you having to sort out dinner for you and your children, we will be organising pizzas to be delivered to the school. They are currently available to buy on ParentPay and will close the day before the Open Afternoon, on 4th July. £15 for a large margherita/veg/meat pizza. We will also be serving soft drinks and will have a tuck shop for the duration of the event. If you're able to help man the tuck shop for 30 minutes during the event, please let us know at pfa@marlow-infant.bucks.sch.uk

Camp Night 2023: 8th – 9th July

Reminder: For those attending Camp Night, if you'd like pizza for supper, please order them on ParentPay. These will be delivered to the school around 5.30pm.

Please also make sure you've completed the consent form, this was emailed out earlier this week, and let us know who from your family party is able to help on the tuck shop.

Date for your diary – Wednesday 19th July

The PFA AGM will be taking place Wednesday 19th July at 7.30am at school.

This is a shorter meeting than usual, legally required to take place each year. We will have drinks and snacks to celebrate our achievements over the last year and would love to see as many people as possible. We are still looking for a new secretary and new chair to start from next year, so please come along if you're interested. The community events the PFA put on are valued by everyone in the school, and the money raised is really necessary for the daily running of the school as well as funding a lot of the school trips etc.

There are quite a lot of already very active PFA members who are happy to stay on the committee, but we do need a bit more support and would love to see some new faces.

Please feel free to speak to Rachel Bourdillon, Lauren King, Caro Robinson, Jo Snell or Claire Robinson for more information.
