Our Creative Week has been a great success and there have been so many different activities taking place each afternoon. In Celebration Worship this morning, I asked the children what they had enjoyed most about the week. There was, as you can imagine, a variety of responses. From elephant clay pinch pots to card printing, animal plates, dance workshops, drama workshops, music and visiting the art exhibition. We have welcomed visitors, parents and students from Great Marlow School to lead activities. All this wouldn't have been possible without the organisational skills of Mrs Mitchell. So my thanks go to her for pulling everything together. The children have learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We will share some photos next week.
This afternoon, we have emailed out the end of school reports for all the children. They are a real celebration of what has been achieved over the last academic year. All pupils have made good progress from their starting points and once more our end of Key Stage 1 outcomes are significantly above National Average.
It seems incredible that there is only one week left of the academic year, the year has really flown by.

Returning school books – Whole school
On Monday 17th July, we will be collecting all other reading books, so that we can conduct an audit and ensure that we are well stocked for the new academic year. Even though the reading books will not be coming home after 17th July, we encourage you to continue to read with your children to keep up their reading skills. Books from home can be used or a visit to the Marlow Library over the summer will provide an alternative source of reading material!
Please check bookshelves at home to see if there are any stray school books there too and return them to school before the end of term.

Playground Leaders – Year 1 & 2
At Marlow Infants, we offer our pupils a range of leadership opportunities, and we even have a Children as Leaders policy. We recognise that our children are the leaders of the future, and therefore we provide a range of opportunities for children to develop their leadership skills, even at this young age. From early on, we aim to embed the understanding in our pupils that they have the power to change the world. As a school we want to inspire our pupils to recognise and demonstrate this and in turn we hope that they will inspire others along the way.
Our Year 2 Playground Leaders are coming to the end of their tenure, and they have made such a difference to the rest of the children in the school, by making lunchtime play interesting and exciting. They help by overseeing a variety of activities and assisting the midday supervisors. We would like to thank them for their service and time.
On Thursday, the Year 1s will have the opportunity to apply for the job of Playground Leader for the next academic year. They will participate in team building and leadership games and learn about job descriptions and writing job application letters.

End of Year Service – 21st July – Year 2
The End of Year Service is always a lovely, emotional, time as we say goodbye to our Year 2 children and wish them well for the next step in their learning journey. They will share some memories of their time at Marlow Infants and sing some of their favourite worship songs.
Year 2 parents were sent a link to book their tickets last week.

Legacy Books – Year 2
It's that time of year again when we kindly ask Year 2 families to donate a legacy book (or more than one) in memory of your child's time at our school. We will label these up to show who they were donated by. They will really help with our Core Read Aloud programme and to instil a love of reading in our pupils in the future.
If you would like to purchase a book from our wish list please click here.

First day at school photo – Year 2 Leavers
As a little fundraiser – we are able to offer the jpeg images of the ‘First day at school’ photo taken by class teachers on the first day at school. Example below:
We will look to do this each summer, as the Year 2s leave. If you’d like your child’s photo (jpeg image) please go on to ParentPay for payment (£3) and provide an email address for the PFA to send it to you. Closing date 21st July.
Any questions please reach out to Katie Fallows (PFA / Year 2 Class rep). If your child wasn’t there on the first day / started later during the school year unfortunately there won’t be a photo – thank you for your understanding.

Date for your diary – Wednesday 19th July
The PFA AGM will be taking place Wednesday 19th July at 7.30am at school.
This is a shorter meeting than usual, legally required to take place each year. We will have drinks and snacks to celebrate our achievements over the last year and would love to see as many people as possible. We are still looking for a new secretary and new chair to start from next year, so please come along if you're interested. The community events the PFA put on are valued by everyone in the school, and the money raised is really necessary for the daily running of the school as well as funding a lot of the school trips etc.
There are quite a lot of already very active PFA members who are happy to stay on the committee, but we do need a bit more support and would love to see some new faces.
Please feel free to speak to Rachel Bourdillon, Lauren King, Caro Robinson, Jo Snell or Claire Robinson for more information.

Camp Night 2023 was a great success last weekend and enjoyed by all who attended. It was such a lovely, warm, friendly, relaxing atmosphere and the children seemed to have the time of their lives! Thank you to everyone who helped support the event by attending the event or volunteering to help on the tuck shop. The children are already talking about next year!
