In school this week

I hope that you like some of the changes we have made to the newsletter this week. In response to feedback received in the parent survey, we have revisited the design of the newsletter and created sections for each year group and the whole school which are drop-downs. This means that the newsletter does not appear to be as long as it actually is! Please let us know what you think.

The children are getting used to being outside even more now. This week I think it has been dry more than it has rained, and it was lovely to see Grasshopper class leaving school in the sunshine this morning to visit Marlow library. There has been lots of learning outside the classroom this week and today Reception have been celebrating trees by learning and decorating them in the school grounds!

Travel Awareness Week

  • Dates: 20th - 24th May

Next week is Travel Awareness Week (previously known as Walk to School Week). We are asking that all children and their grown-ups think about how they travel to school and the impact this has on the environment.

The eco-warriors will be leading school worship on Monday morning to explain to the children about the importance of looking after the environment and how the way we travel can make a difference.

The class with the most improved 'active' journeys will win the term trophy. Any child who makes a concerted effort to improve or increase their active journey to school will receive a 'living streets' badge.

Eco Day of Action

  • Date: Friday 7th June

After half-term we will be holding our annual Eco Day of Action. We will be joining the other schools in Marlow to raise awareness in the town of environmental issues that are important to the schools. We will be having an electricity free day on the day and focusing on water pollution - specifically in the Thames. We would like to invite the children to come to school wearing something blue. We don't want you to buy anything special, so it could be blue socks, blue ribbons, blue jeans, blue leggings, blue shoes etc, along with the rest of their school uniform. We kindly ask for no football kits to be worn.

Creative Week

  • Dates: 15th - 19th July

Calling all creatives! We welcome any parent/carer with a creative background to come to school and run a workshop with the children for an afternoon. We would love you to share your creative knowledge in a fun, hands-on way for both classes in your children's year group. It can be any day during this week, from 1.30pm-3pm.

Pentecost Service

  • Time: 9am-9.30am

We would like to invite families to join us by watching the service. Due to the size of the hall, we can only invite 1 parent/carer per family, and have a maximum of 100 tickets.

Singing at the Marlow Regatta

Here are some details about the day:

  • Sunday 16th June
  • Time to assemble in the park is 11.45am
  • Choir performance to commence at 12 midday
  • Meeting point to the left of the stage as you look at it
  • Look for Cathy Stewart and the team who will be wearing Regatta tabards/Hi-vis jackets
  • It is an open event so photography is unrestricted
  • After the performance, children will be released individually with help of a school representative to a known relative/ carer for safety. Parents, please be patient in this process to ensure the safety of children

Eliminating the idea of waste

Don't forget that we are collecting all brands of flexible coffee packaging, loose-leaf tea packs and bulk bags of tea bags. We have a collection point located in the entrance hall.

Teddy Bears' Picnic

  • Date: Friday 24th May

Year 1 children have voted to spend their 'marble reward' by holding a picnic on the field for the last afternoon of term. They have asked if they can bring a cuddly toy to come to the picnic. This is optional. Be mindful that toys can go missing in school, although we will do our best to keep them safe! They will also be playing games and there will be some vegetable crudités to munch on. Just praying for good weather!

Message from WWF

Thank you so much for deciding to get your school involved in fundraising for WWF by taking part in the Mini London Marathon.  We are so grateful for your support and your incredible fundraising. All the money you raise will help us care for nature and wildlife around the world. We have lots of interesting nature facts and quizzes on our website which can be shared with pupils Fascinating facts about animals | WWF and lots of teaching resources you may find useful School resources and activities | WWF.

We hope the event went well and all the pupils had a great time.

Thank you once again for your amazing support.

Curious about faith?

Join a series of group conversations that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment. At each Alpha session, you'll be hosted in a small group and watch an episode on a different question of faith - then you have a chance to share your thoughts and hear what others think. You can say anything you like, or nothing at all.

Everyone's welcome. You're invited, no matter your background or beliefs. It's free and there's no pressure to come back.
