7th June 2024

In school this week

What a start to the last half-term of this academic year!

Today we had a visit from a representative from UNICEF for our Rights Respecting Gold Award re- accreditation. The visit went well, and we will share the outcome with you as soon as we know. Thank you to Mrs Howarth for all her hard work leading to this, and to the Rights Respecting Ambassadors for being so spectacular when asked questions.

Our Eco Day of Action has been exciting, and the children have enjoyed the different activities, which have included learning about water pollution, planting sunflowers and creating water colours of nature. We have also managed to reduce the amount of electricity we normally use. We used no electricity from the national grid but instead relied on our solar electricity generation. At 3pm we used 47kWh of solar power and sent 56kWh back to the grid for other people in Marlow to use. Compared to a normal day, we used around 14kWh less electricity today.

This half-term the school's value in focus is service. The children will be learning all about what service means in school worship and in their MindUp lessons they will learn about taking mindful action in the community. This learning will be embedded by each Year group undertaking an 'act of service'. This means they will be doing something to help others in Marlow. Details of the Year R and Year 2 acts of service are below.

Happy's Circus

Roll up, roll up, the circus is back in town!

The ever popular Happy Circus will be returning to the school field on Sunday 22nd September! This family circus show has been enjoyed by many children and families across the land and is a show not to be missed. Be mesmerised by the trapeze artists, amazed by the clowns' cheeky tricks whilst enjoying the breathtaking atmosphere inside the big top tent.

Here is a sneak preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ipGpGKTIEI

Tickets will go on sale shortly, watch this space!  Tickets will be available for the whole community so spread the word to family and friends outside of school too.

PFS Summer Ball

Unfortunately, the PFA have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the summer ball. We didn't sell enough tickets or get the support we needed to be able to make the event viable or a success for those attending. Those who have bought tickets will be contacted via email to arrange a refund. Thank you to Lauren King and Rachel Bourdillon who worked hard behind the scenes trying to make the event work.

Camp Night

Have you been sleeping too well lately? Fear not, camp night is coming soon. Join us for a night on the school field on Saturday July 13th. Tickets will be available on ParentPay from next Friday.

We Are Recruiting!

As the school year gets closer to its end, some of our PFA committee will be leaving Marlow Infants or just choosing to take on a smaller role next year. The PFA AGM will take place on 13th July, and we would love to see some new faces with fresh ideas ready to take on the role of Chair (or Co-Chair!) and Co-Treasurer. For further details, see the job descriptions, but if you don't fancy those roles, don't despair. You can come along anyway! Sandygate PFA is great fun, there is lots of opportunity to make new friends and let your imagination run wild; we've had some great events over the last few years for all the family.

If you are interested and would like to chat face to face, come and find one of the current committee: Rachel Bourdillon, Claire Robinson, Lauren King, Daphne Howarth, Caro Robinson, Mandy Rooney or Charlotte Thompson.

You don't have to wait for the AGM either. The next PFA meeting will be Thursday June 13th at 8pm.  The meeting will be held at school, but dial-in options will be available.
