What a start to the last half-term of this academic year!
Today we had a visit from a representative from UNICEF for our Rights Respecting Gold Award re- accreditation. The visit went well, and we will share the outcome with you as soon as we know. Thank you to Mrs Howarth for all her hard work leading to this, and to the Rights Respecting Ambassadors for being so spectacular when asked questions.
Our Eco Day of Action has been exciting, and the children have enjoyed the different activities, which have included learning about water pollution, planting sunflowers and creating water colours of nature. We have also managed to reduce the amount of electricity we normally use. We used no electricity from the national grid but instead relied on our solar electricity generation. At 3pm we used 47kWh of solar power and sent 56kWh back to the grid for other people in Marlow to use. Compared to a normal day, we used around 14kWh less electricity today.
This half-term the school's value in focus is service. The children will be learning all about what service means in school worship and in their MindUp lessons they will learn about taking mindful action in the community. This learning will be embedded by each Year group undertaking an 'act of service'. This means they will be doing something to help others in Marlow. Details of the Year R and Year 2 acts of service are below.
