Arriving & leaving school
We encourage families to walk to school wherever possible, but if you do drive, we would ask that you park considerately, ensuring you are not blocking private driveways, bays or pavements. Doing so can mean that pedestrians cannot pass or access for emergency vehicles and others is blocked.
The spaces in front of Gweneth Court are strictly for residents. We would ask that you respect our neighbours when parking and not use their parking bays or block them even if you are sitting in the car waiting. We have had several complaints from the residents and some find the situation particularly upsetting.
We would also like to remind parents and carers about the need to observe the parking restrictions on the zig-zag markings outside the school gate. There is no parking on the zig-zag markings between 8am–9.30am or between 3pm–4pm. These restrictions are here for several reasons and the main one is for the safety of the children.
There is parking available to the rear of Gweneth Court. This can be found by following the road around to the left as you drive towards the
school.

Labelling snacks
We would like to remind parents to label their children's fruit snack please.
Snacks are eaten by children in the middle of the school morning. Children can bring in fruit or vegetables for their snack in a named reusable container. If you send in grapes, please make sure that they are cut in half.
At snack time, we do not allow nuts, chocolate, sweets or pre-packed fruit snacks such as Yoyos .

Parent consultations – what to expect
As you know, after half-term, we are holding our parents' consultations.
This will be your opportunity to have a 10-minute chat with your child's class teacher about how your child has settled into their new class and hear about the progress they are making. The class teacher will also share a progress report with you and discuss what your child needs to work on next.
We will be putting out children's books for their parents and carers to look at. You might want to arrive 5 minutes early to allow you the time to browse. We thought it would be useful to explain a little bit about how we give the children written feedback on the work that they complete in the books. This is slightly different in Reception when compared to Year 1 & 2. We want the children to be able to understand the feedback, so we use a series of symbols that we teach the children to recognise and understand. A summary of the symbols can be found on the inside covers of the exercise books, and you can find them in the appendices of our Feedback policy, which you can access here.
Teachers also use initials, for example, to indicate when the children have been working on greater depth challenges in Maths (GD).

'Book Looks' for Parents & Carers
Following feedback in the parent survey last year, we have introduced additional opportunities for parents and carers to come and look at their children's books at different points over the year.

Lunchtime at Marlow Infants
As you are aware, we have a new lunch supplier this year. At the moment we are only offering a cold buffet type lunch. It is our aim to source hot meals again as soon as we can. We took the decision to ensure a quality cold option in the summer term when our existing hot lunch supplier closed their local hub. At the time, there were no other hot lunch suppliers that had the capacity to provide the 22 schools that found themselves in the same situation as us.
The cold buffet that is provided by the Kids Lunch company, provides children with a range of options to choose from and these can vary from day to day. There is a good balance of food types, including (but not exclusively) fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and yoghurts. Sandwiches are made mostly with 50/50 bread or bread rolls. Again, there is a range of fillings for the children to choose from.
Our school councillors have made a mini-video about the school lunches at Marlow Infants. We have uploaded the video to our school website.

Tissues
We would be most grateful for donations of tissue boxes from parents please. We are very low, especially in Year 1. Thank you in advance.
