In school this week

Headteachers Message

There has been a lot of practical science this week in school. The highlight has been the gravity buckets investigation in Reception. The children were thrilled to see Mrs Thirlway rotating a bucket full of water above Mrs Burkitt (who was lying on the floor). Mrs Burkitt was thrilled that none of the water escaped from the bucket!

In Year 1, the children were learning all about the parts of a flowering plant and worked in groups to label real plants.  In Year 2 the focus was comparing and classifying. Again the children worked in groups to use real natural objects and were able to discuss in their group how to classify the objects.

The topics are definitely well underway with the children in all year groups engaging well with the activities. You will see from 'Learning at a Glance' below, what they will be learning about next week. I am particularly looking forward to seeing the Year 2 kite designs.
