Year 1 Trip to Windsor Castle
Year 1 Trip to Windsor Castle, 25th November 2022
As part of the History Curriculum and the Year 1 topic on Kings, Queens and Castles, Butterfly and Ladybird classes went to visit Windsor Castle to complement what we have learned in school.
It was a lovely sunny day, and the children enjoyed exploring the Castle and the gardens, paying particular attention to the mediaeval features of the Castle. The Round Tower is a key feature of the Castle and the children learned that if the Royal Standard flag is flying, this indicates that The King is in the Castle. The children were also lucky enough to see The Changing of the Guard taking place outside the Castle.
Later on there was a visit to some of the rooms in the State Apartments, and then a walk to St George's Chapel.
After all the walking around, each class went to the Learning Centre and learned all about the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the role of the new King. So much fun was had as the children had chance to role-play a Coronation!
What a wonderful day the children had visiting Windsor Castle and learning about the British Monarchs.
The photos of the day are here.
