Road Safety Week
Safety Day - Tuesday 21st November
As part of the school’s Green Flag work and Healthy Living topic, we held a Safety Day at school on Tuesday 21st of November.
During the day, all the children in the school participated in scooter sessions with a visiting scooter coach. Each class had a lesson where the children learned how to travel safely whilst riding a scooter, thinking especially about travelling near roads and across driveways. They worked on coordination and control, with a few fun tricks taught at the end too. The smiles on the children's faces were a joy to see, and the coach was particularly impressed with how well all the children listened and followed instructions.
In the afternoon, Mrs Burns came into school and taught the children First Aid basics, such as dialling 999, identifying an emergency and the recovery position. The children were really interested and eager to learn.
The team from Saddle Safari started their day off by repairing some bikes at the front of school and then spent time in class for the rest of the morning with Year 1 and Year 2.
All year groups also did a Road Safety activity in class, where they learnt about the road signs and had to sequence the order in which you should be crossing the road safely.
Thank you to all the visitors who gave up their time to make the day such a successful one and to Mr Creese for organising and coordinating all the activities.
