Marlow Church of England Infant School

All Saints Church

As a Church of England school we have very close PARTNERSHIPS with THE OXFORD DIOCESE BOARD OF EDUCATION AND All Saints CHURCH, Marlow.

Embody a Christian and spiritual community

The Church in School

We have wonderful links with the clergy and children's youth worker team at All Saints church.  Our strong relationship helps us all as a church family to flourish together and the church team are fully supportive of enhancing and living our Christian vision through the work they do both in school or at church.   Both the clergy and children's team at All Saints, Marlow are very active in our school, visiting us weekly to support us with worship.  They attend whole school events, special celebrations as well as leading extra-curricular activities.

A member of the clergy team from All Saints holds an ex-oficio position on our Board of Governors. At present, this is the Team Rector, Revd Dave Bull.

The School in Church

We take part in the regular @10:59 family service once each term with some of our pupils leading prayers and songs during the service.  We also hold some of our key school services at the church which has included our Easter and Advent Services.

Children from the school visit the church regularly as part of their RE and other lessons and have in the past visited Lent prayer installations, exhibitions on Refugees and visited the church to learn about Remembrance Day.

We provide display boards which are put up in church to inform the congregation on the activities going on in our school and have also taken part in other exhibitions in the church including the annual Flower Festival.

The School & Church in the Community

As a school, we aim to foster a sense of community in our pupils and look for opportunities to make a difference locally and further afield to further this aim we often work alongside All Saints Church on Community outreach. This has included running collections for the local food bank, One Can Trust, sending Christmas gift boxes for children in need overseas and organising books and stationery to be sent to school children in Sierra Leone.

Every summer term each year group undertakes an act of service to our community: Year 2 visit the May Balfour gardens where they pick litter, weed flower beds and clean the sundial; Year 1 hold a tea-party with singing for some of the older members of the church congregation and Reception help to tidy the churchyard at All Saints Church.

Praise in the Park is an annual event organised by churches and church schools in the Marlow area with the aim of coming together in a public act of praise and worship.  It is held in the summer term in Higginson Park, Marlow with each school re-enacting a Bible Story through music, dance and drama.
