Our Community – near and far
Be responsible to and for society. Be good citizens of the planet
Our Local Community
We have fostered links with various groups in our local community. In recent years we have worked with Marlow Town Council and Wild Marlow to improve our environment in school, planting a wildlife corridor and improving and extending our Wild World. In the summer term, we plant sunflowers with the children and some are given by Wild Marlow and the Town Council to residents of Marlow.
We have organised very successful drives for our local food bank, One Can Trust, with our school families giving very generously to those less fortunate than ourselves. We have also contributed regularly to Wycombe Homeless Connection through collections taken at our Nativity Plays.
We work closely with other local schools. In addition to the annual Praise in the Park service with local primary schools, we have fostered links with Sir William Borlase Grammar School and some of their sixth form students have come in to run Maths sessions for some of our Year 1 and Year 2 children. Over the last few years, our Science ambassadors have also had the opportunity to visit Great Marlow School to take part in some Science activities.
We collaborate closely with all the other schools in Marlow to create a community that works hard to protect the environment. The Eco leads from the schools, led and coordinated by our Headteacher, share ideas and the the issues they are tackling in their schools. They also plan collaborative projects such as an annual Eco Day of Action and the School Big Clean.
Our World Community
Marlow Church of England Infant School has always had a wonderful history of raising funds and awareness for projects around the world. Over the past few years, we have sponsored a child in Kenya through Nasio Trust and raised money for Children in Need, The Children's Society and Save the Children.
We have recently fostered links with a school in Kenya, Bright Future School, through the Amani UK organisation. It is our hope that, through exchanges of letters and pictures, our children will develop their understanding of their place in the world and the differences between themselves and others around the world.
